Americana DIY.

Finally the DIY for the American Flag shorts! It's a gross rainy day, perfect for crafting and DIYing, so here goes...


What you'll need:
1. denim shorts or jeans
2. fabric paint
3. a star stencil; I used a sponge and cut into a star
4. a paint brush
5. tape

Paint some white onto your star, I painted it rather than dipping it to avoid too much paint on the sponge. Decide how you want to lay out the pattern, straight down or diagonal. I chose straight up and down for mine.

Stamp the stars all the way across the left side. A second set of hands always helps, in this case Gram was my DIY partner ;)

Once you are done with the stars tape off the right side for the stripes. I used regular Scotch tape because that's what I happened to have on hand. Make the stripes as thick or thin as you want.

Start painting, I decided to do white first.

Wait for the paint to dry then remove the tape and....Tahhh Dahhhh!!!!

The finished product! Pretty easy I have to say...hope you try and love it as much as I do.
